Research
For three years, the IEC’s collaborators researched the history of administrative detention. In order to allow society to deal with this topic, the IEC is going to publish all intermediate results and research findings in book form and on-line.
Interim results and research findings of the IEC
During its research work, the IEC published working papers and intermediate results on a regular basis. The research design of May 2016 sets forth the main research fields. The document shows how the IEC’s interdisciplinary team worked in five fields of research. The mini-reports, the summary of the preliminary findings workshop intermediate survey workshop as well as various working papers from 2017 and 2018 give an insight in the latest findings of the research work.
The IEC’s research work results in a series of ten volumes that will be published by Chronos Verlag, Editions Alphil and Edizioni Casagrande in 2019. The series comprises a volume with portraits of victims, a volume dedicated to the dissemination of the work of the IEC, six volumes containing the research work, a book dedicated to the sources as well as a final report for the attention of the Federal Council. The volumes will be published between March, May, July and September 2019 and will be available as printed books or as free e-books on this website.

| From mid October 2017, IEC researchers will be publishing working papers at regular intervals. The working papers are academic texts in which the researchers present their interim findings. The papers provide an insight into the ongoing research and will be fundamental to the final publications. They are aimed at members of the public who have an interest in the topic and, particularly, at other researchers. The texts are only available in their source language. | From mid October 2017, IEC researchers will be publishing working papers at regular intervals.
